During the first 3-4 days you may notice: a gritty feeling, as if there is something in your eye. You will be given pain killers in the form of drops and tablets in case you need them, but most patients describe the sensation as uncomfortable rather than painful. The white of the eye may appear reddish in colour and the eye may be more watery than usual. some difficulty in bright lights some swelling of the eyelids and difficulty opening eyes some variation in your vision: as time goes on vision is likely to get sharper. This has to do with wound healing, which may vary in different patients There is a contact lens in the eye which will need to be removed 3-7 days after the operation.
What can you do after the operation?
read normally look at the television normally use sunglasses if they are comfortable wash your face or hair as normal but avoid pressure or getting water in the eye.Carry out normal activity, sunglasses are advisable whilst outside until your first check up. It is advisable to allow a week off work although you should normally be able to resume work after 4-5 days.
What you must do after the operation
put the eye drops in as instructed cover your eye during the night with the shield provided (this prevents you from accidentally rubbing or knocking your eye whilst asleep)
Contact us if there is; pain in the eye, that does not start settling after 3-4 day pus coming out of the eye
