The retina is the light sensitive tissue at the back of the eye and the macula or yellow spot is an area of the retina that contains a high density of light sensitive cells for situations where acute vision is needed ie for reading.
Any deterioration in the health of either the retina or the macular would affect quality of vision. The severity and speed of any loss of vision would very much depend on the nature of the diagnosis and gaining appropriate and speedy treatment.
Professor Gibson and Mr Benson specialise in macula / retinal disorders and Mr Cunliffe has received specialist training for a new LENS REPLACEMENT treatment for dry macular degeneration called IOL VIP
Treatment is also availble in certain instances for dry macular degeneration.
